Questions!!
Over the past couple of years while I've been constantly trying to better myself into being a healthier, slimmer person I've been really lucky and met up with some new friends on the way. These people (and you) have accepted me as they see me now - but I'm sort of finding that some of the other people that I've known for years find it hard to accept that I'm changing, or that I've changed! It's almost as they are at times maybe a litte uncomfortable with me or they don't quite know how to take me anymore. I've been in their life for years and they knew me as being fat, having health problems and not an active person. I've never pushed what I've done or the changes I've made - mainly because people had done that to me in the past and I didn't want to hear! You have to be ready to make the changes to your life yourself not when someone thinks this is what you should be doing. So apart from burbling on here - I just quietly get on with my life, opting for a healthier lifestyle and exercising. I've haven't got where I want to be yet but I know I'm a long way from the person I was a couple of years ago.
Now I get the questions thrown my way:
- are you still going to the pool?
- so you've joined a gym?
- how often do you exercise?
- is it hard keeping the weight off?
and I hate this one - are you still dieting??
I answer best as I can
- I love aqua, really lucky that I've found an exercise I enjoy so try to go daily
- Yes I try for up to three gym sessions a week
- I aim for an exercise session daily
- It's not easy - but any not so good days I can mostly balance out by getting back into it the following day
- No, not dieting, just changed what I eat and try to opt for the best choices I can
Then I sort of feel they look at me as if to say - what's happened to her!!!
LOL - I better not mention to them I'm mentally preparing myself for a Tri!!! Nor that I'm looking for a bike to buy and also going to experiment along with a friend with a 10 week Tai Chi class starting next week - they will really start to wonder - sometimes I do to!
We did the family get together yesterday, perfect day for it. As one of our daughters had to work (yep poor woman on a Sunday!) we took their two little boys with us. Our other daughter and family joined us. We took the boys to the beach for a little while with other family members then back to the gathering. BUT the young 3 year old Fynn realised that he found it a lot of fun in being able to run away from Nana, ( a little bit of incidental exercise here for Nana) he was a bit naughty or maybe mischievious is a kinder work but we needed eyes in the back of our heads, also had his companion 3 year old cousin Jordyn on board- they seemed to have fun!
Devin the 5 year old so much easier to have about - apart from the questions!!! Constantly!
One stream he hit upon on the drive to the get together was about broken hearts (must have heard someone had a broken heart but I think he thought it was an illness.)
D - Q: How do you fix a broken heart??
Us - A: They would have to go to hospital or the doctors (????)
D - Q: Will I get a broken heart?
Us - No real answer given just a bit of reassurance but we were both thinking - aww - hope not!
D - Q: Do doctor's heart's break?
Us - thinking - we bet they do!
Next question was - do bricks burn or smoulder???
These questions from him are constant! I know it is a five year old thing - but sometimes hard to answer - Hard going!
On the exercise front - must admit that with the cold I've had I went nearly a week without decent exercise - I missed it! Last Thursday I started back again a bit slow, still coughing a little - but back once more:)
TIAGF: Energy to chase and sometimes catch three year old grandsons!
Just read M's comments on my last blog about how friends don't really know us any more - really does sum up what I've tried to say - thanks M!
Good night:)

Ha ha, the questions must get a bit tiring, but honestly - sooo cute!! Do bricks burn or smoulder!!!! I love it :-)
Its fantastic that you're still getting asked questions by your friends and acquaintences, if you choose to look at it as a compliment that is! Good on you with your prepared answers, and decent, sound reasoning - you really have come such a long way.
I'll be glad when I've lost enough for people to ask me questions. The question I heard the most last time I lost a lot of weight was: "Have you been sick?" I'm leaving your journal with a smile... thinking how I would have answered your grandson's questions. So so cute!!
Isn't it great how children think we KNOW the answers to all these questions though?!
Friends just need to get used to our new-found zest for life cause we aren't going back to the old lazy days!
I so know what you mean re the questions. Darcy is 4 and he fires them at us non-stop. Sometimes we wonder where the questions start from. Last night it was all about ghosts. Why are there ghosts? Are ghosts people who haven't made it to heaven yet? Will I be a ghost? How do they get the strawberries in yoghurt? LOL
I think that is why I am so tired all the time. Nothing to do with exercise at all :D
You have a great day Anne, and you know your true friends will always be a part of you and the others will have to learn to love you as you are or lump it!
Think 'm' summed it up really well......true friends will be with you unconditionally and the others....will have to learn to love you as you are or lump it...LOL Think some of mine (friends that is) are wondering what on earth I am about these days!!!! Have a great week.:)
Great answers to questions that friends shouldnt really ask but I agree, often they do. Sometimes it is hard to move on and let go but sometimes you have to. Agree with what M said too.
I am in my second term of Tai Chi and loving it although still find all that standing very hard on the old joints. Hope you love it as much. Let me know.
