Highs and lows

Yesterday was a day where I had my lows and highs.

Lows - I caught up on some blogs and realised the P N Tri is in December this year. Low for me - cos I said I was going to try this one - and what have I done towards it - a big fat zero!!! There were three women I met through aqua and WW and we all talked about it and I did go looking at bikes and that's as far as I got! The women I met up with have all dropped out of aqua and WW now, no excuse though as if I had really wanted to I could have just done it without them. I spent the day feeling a bit fed up with myuself for taking the easy option and forgetting all about it and putting it in the too hard basket. Pathetic...no excuses really.

Highs - well a little one but it felt good. Both my daughters were quite good swimmers as kids. When our eldest daughter found she had arthritis I suggested swimming may help, so she started again (and yes it is helping her hands), but she also found she was enjoying swimming once more. Our younger daughter now after quite a few years has also started going to the pool at night. Yesterday I started the day in the office, then off to my course in the morning and then lunch time aqua. Quite often on a Monday I go back to aqua at night and last night picked up my daughter and off we went. She was doing lane swimming and I did aqua kick boxing. As we left the pool and headed to the changing room we passed my daughter just coming out. Our instructor said to me what a great example I was to our kids. What I thought! I asked what did she mean and she pointed out that they could see me going back to study, working, doing exercise and working at it and so I must be setting them a good example!! I had never thought about how the kids must feel with what I do, but took a moment to think about it last night and I could see where the instructor was coming from and it felt great. I am living a different life to the way I used to live. I got home and my younger daughter phoned to tell me how many lengths she had done (at the other pool) so she had been and done some as well!

Highs, lows and now some excitement!! At last we have planned a holiday!!! Not what I envisaged, I was hanging out for a tropical one but MM convinced me that it was time to head south (I've never been past Christchurch) so we got onto the web and found cheap(ish) flights and now looking into a campervan and hitting the road. As MM said really only a whistle stop trip as we have only eight days - but we should see quite a bit and it will be fun!! I'm looking forward to it so much. The only little nagging thought is that I will miss three lectures of my course so will have to have some catch up time.

I'm always seem to be going on about breaks and holidays - so important and precious to us now that we have the business. Gone are the four weeks annual leave, instead we cram in weekends and little mini breaks when we can. I realised over the weekend we need to keep doing it as well. At night all we seem to talk about is work - which is probably natural seeing we work together but don't actually see each other until night time as MM is out on the road all day. Getting a few days away changes all that and we can relax and forget about phones etc. We used to camp a lot with the kids years ago, also prior to that when we were overseas so this will be fun!

Oh and the birthday is tomorrow - I felt guilty leaving the guys home babysitting the grand kids - so we are having Thai takeaways and our oldest daughter has her bottle of Moet now from the Real Estate agent so she has promised that it will be opened! Also a bit of a farewell for them as they are off on their trip on Sunday. I'm so going to miss those little boys, but know their other Nana will be hanging out to see them.

Better go and get some work done! Have a great week.

hey dont feel bad about the tri. Its obviously something that really doesnt rock your boat, so dont stress about it! Instead give yourself top marks for finding something you do like do and sticking with it ... thats whats important! You rock :)
