Past and future goals
Way back in November I set some goals for Christmas and our holiday:
Goal 1 - Weight - goal was to maintain. I knew this one would be hard and managed to sneak in with a gain of 800 grams which I'm ok about, in fact I'm pretty happy with it as it could have been a good couple of kilos or more..... so I weighed in at 73.8 at home - was on 73 just before Christmas. Our scales are lighter than WW so around 4 k's from my lightest weight:(
Goal 2 - Exercise 10,000 steps a day - to be honest here I stopped recording them in the lead up to Christmas (too busy) but did make a huge effort when on holiday and averaged more than this! I impressed myself.
Goal 3 - No cashews or nuts! Really tried hard with this, for instance I didn't buy any! Good start but our daughters did and bought them to the beach and a couple of times they got the better of me - no huge over indulgences though. It's so easy to just feeding them into my mouth without even realising but when I caught myself I moved away. I also made sure we had heaps of low fat bagels, hummus, rice crackers etc about which helped
Goal 4 - To have a good time without over indulging in food - I did! I feel I've finally got to a stage where a good time doesn't have to be all about food and eating until you are uncomfortable and not knowing when to stop. Maybe a case of more quality than quantity these days! I planned some treats and had them and enjoyed. I know I used to just eat away and not really even taste the food properly, now I'm finding more and more that I'm a lot more aware of the taste and flavour of food. I love the freshness of some of the veges about. I shopped at the market before Christmas and bought vine tomatoes and fresh asparagus which I baked together with just a dash of olive oil and garlic, we had lamb, ham, chicken, new potatoes, a mixture of roast veges, salads.......... A bottle of French champagne (courtesy of our daughters two English rellies) some NZ Sauvignon blanc - Dessert - I had a small helping of Christmas pudding and custard as I planned and that was it. I bet you can tell I enjoyed it! I really didn't feel the need to keep on indulging way after Christmas was over. This is a first for me.
More goals for this year:
Have fun along the way and enjoy what I've achieved!
My lowest WW weigh in was 70.1 - I want to beat that. I aiming to be a 60's girl! Even if it's 69.9 I want to do it.
Try another exercise and find one I enjoy.
Increase my exercise - I know now I can put my mind to it and hit 10,000 steps with a bit of effort.
Just thought I would mention - it seems so weird here today! It is so quiet, the phone hasn't rung once. Outside it's grey, cloudy and really still, I sort of feel I'm the only person about!
Also - isn't the start of a new year a great way to get a bit of motivation back. I'm feeling like this is a real fresh start! Catch you later.

You did a great job with your aims over Christmas! Still quiet here, too, and that same cloudy weather you've got. Not moaning about the peace, though...
Can't wait to get home and started on new challenges too Anne, might see you at the lido, I'm not going to aqua anymore, just going to swim lengths from now on. See you!
You're right - there's something about a new year that just invigorates you - the fresh start and all that. But I think you are to be commended on how well you went over Christmas - it is so good to feel that you're in control and running the show - I should do it more often!!!!! Have a good week - I'll race you to being a 60s girl - and I've given you a start!
Good luck with your new goals...you did well with past goals, so sure you'll achieve the new ones.
My goal is to get back to being a 60's girl, I lost the plot over chrissy and gained 2.2 in a month...so its back to it for me. See ya in the 60's soon...
