Support?

We've had all today - rain, thunder, lightening! We rely on rain water. So in dryer summer months we have had to buy an occasional tanker of water. This morning water is literally pouring out of our three water tanks!! The spouting is over flowing, there is water everywhere. We live on a farm, the farm slopes down a hill and there is small stream going through it. In summer it dries up, now it looks like a lake!! There are a couple of paddocks under water - and still it rains!!! One good thing we will have plenty of water for the summer months and another good thing - no noisy bulldozers or trucks working on the subdivision. Perfect peace - apart from the rain!!

My summer aqua buddies are back. We all got to know each other through WW and aqua a couple of years ago. They have drifted of over the winter months but I think the thought of summer has got them back into action. We got on really well and there is a lot of support between us all. LOL a lot of talking at times too, we got 'told of' last night for gas bagging! Constructive gas bagging thought - and we are still going flat out exercising. The conversation last night got onto support. It reminded me of the last WW meeting I was at last week. The conversation was about where we get our support from. Everyone came up with the standard answer, husband and family. The leader went around the room asking - then it was my turn "Anne where do you get your support from" so I lied, well just a little white one!! I said husband and family! It's not that they don't support me, they just forget I go to WW anymore! Peter the other day told me I'm fine how I am. I told him I would be even better with the last 5 kilos gone! But one family member is supportive - Beth my sister:-) Support yes - but hard for them to understand.

I really wanted to 'come out' at the meeting and say my blog gives me so much support. Wonder what they would have thought of that answer. It's not only support I get, it's motivation and inspiration! The aqua buddies and I all agreed - the support and understanding seems to come most from people that have done this! Peter is proud of how far I've come. But for someone that can eat anything they like with no reaction on the scales so it must be difficult for him to really understand how hard this can be. He can come back from holiday and have lost a kilo or two - grrr!

Where do you get your main support from?

It's still raining......

great post Anne, I remember when I was still going to WW i told the group that I journalled online and met some wonderful people who understood me. I think there is still a stigma associated with "being online" - in some circumstances there is probably some dubious things going on, but in our circumstance no-one would disagree. My biggest support are from those people who are around me every day - family, friends, work colleagues, but my biggest UNDERSTANDING support is my online buddies - they know exactly what I'm going through and they give me the confidence that what I'm thinking isnt something that needs to be locked up in a looney asylum! LOL

Yep, the same weather here :(
You ask "where do you get support from?" ....... My first thought was from Anne of course. :) My girls & my other half and encourage and support me whole heartedly but it's from You fellow bloggers that I get my inspiration and motivation from. Just knowing I am not alone in this quest for a healthier weight and longer life spurs me on. So thanks Anne for the part you play in my life. Big Hugs :)

Amazing enough - I do get the most support from my blog. And then a very close 2nd, my husband. I mad a connection last night with a friend of mine whose got a newborn baby and who isn't happy - it is an unlikely friendship, but I am really happy that we have something so important in common. :)

I used to get my support from family, friends and WW's.. both the leader and other WW's ladies/men... now I get it from all of the above AND BLOGGERS!! It is awesome!!!! Would you believe so many people have NO IDEA what a blog is? Much less understand how we can find friends and support from one! I find that amazing, cos 2 years ago I did not know a bloody thing about blogs either, now I live for mine.

Yes - us bloggers are your secret weapon!! I get support from Bloss but only in a general way and I don't really tend to discuss my weightloss/healthy lifestyle plans with any of my friends - kind of just like to plug away on my own. Funnily enough I'm actually my own biggest support - if I can get my head in the right place then I fly (mind you some times it takes a lot of work to get my head where it should be) but then all the underpinning support comes from you lovely people who don't just support but who understand too.

Now we all sound like a weight watchers meeting with the same boring answer.....support comes from our blog.

The thing that has amazed me the most is, after meeting heaps of bloggers I still can't get over how totally different all our lives are (younger, more mature, some with kids, some with grandkids, single, married etc) we all understand each other when it comes to weight......carming to no there are people out there who I have met (and not met) through this blog who REALLY no me.

You guys are my support. I also have a husband who eats and drinks what he likes and it makes no difference. It's good to talk to people who understand.
