SURFS UP!!
This weekend have just experienced something we are unlikely to see again soon! We went over to the beach Friday night. It is on the east coast. We left in such a hurry and hadn't heard that it was experiencing the tail end of a cyclone! Peter had just heard the seas were going to be rough. The weather was lovely and sunny and no wind so hard to imagine that it would be rough. They estimated the waves were 6 metres and over. We first noticed the beach was rough, (which normally means the lagoon which is a lovely safe place for the grandsons) is calm. These are some photos of the lagoon. Hard to get photos of the actual waves but you will see the effect after the waves hit the reef.

We ended up phoning friends one of whom is a very keen photographer and they took all of 30 minutes to pack and come over and join us. Peter took way over a 100 photos - these are just some of mine, which won't be as good as his. I'm saying that seriously as he is quite a good photographer.

Wow! that looks really exciting - but a bit scary too. Nature is very powerful (she said, unoriginally).
I bet that is something the grandsons will remember for years to come. Thanks for posting the photos. :)

Yep so know what you mean ... after reading my blog you'll understand why we had so many injuries in the surf lifesaving nationals here this weekends ... and very serious injuries too! On the Sunday (not me on duty) every race they had injuries ... over 20 people injured!!!
