Another weekend over
Sometimes I think it would make sense to have a five day weekend and a two day working week! My friend had a ''surprise'' birthday lunch arranged for her by her family on Saturday. We went out together on Thursday to celebrate her birthday, she was quite adamant she was not celebrating this milestone birthday and said the family were simply taking her out for dinner - and that was it! Little did she know! When she arrived at her son's home on Saturday supposedly to baby sit and saw us all there - all she could do was cry. Her husband laughed and said simply - she'll get over it!! She did. At least she was tidy - if it was me that was sprung with a surprise I would arrive in my track pants and slippers!! Saturday I was going to meet up with Chris, Janene and company, almost changed my mind, miserable wet morning and not much time but then had a last minute decision change and I jumped in the car and headed into town. Always enjoy catching up with them all. I had a quick flat white, back in the car and home again, threw on a change of clothes, make up, tidied my hair and we headed back into town again. Somedays toby our dog looks a little puzzled - like there they go again!! On the way home from the lunch we picked up Devin as we were baby sitting for the night. Fynn was going to his cousins.
A little bit sad - our daughters MIL doesn't really have much to do with her grand children - her choice. She lives locally but months go by without any contact from her and when she sees the boys it's just like they aren't related to her. She has never looked after them. No doubt at all that she loves them, but just seems distant. When we collected Devin, little brother Fynn wished me "Happy birthday" I told him it wasn't my birthday and he said he was because they had made me a banana cake. (this was for the other nana - not me) Devin told Fynn that the cake was for their ''step nana". So it was like they didn't think that she is their real nana.
Sunday - our son in law came to collect Devin with Fynn (who wanted breakfast here, he likes his food and I think he thought we may have something better than his house) we waved them of and sat down to watch the rugby, thinking it was great to have peace to watch the game! Devin is fine - just talks constantly and we wouldn't see much rugby. Then who should pull into the driveway - our other daughter, son in law and their two sons! They are quieter little boys though and when they left we decided to keep Jordyn here for a while. The rugby - first half disappointing, then well I nearly bit the acrylic nails of my fingers!!
Yesterday I spent most of the afternoon on the Internet trying to finalise holiday plans. We have two nights in Brisbane and the place I had booked had quite a few references to having bed bugs on an Internet site I found with travellers reviews. I cancelled it! The only time we've been to Brisbane is to the airport! No idea at all of good places to stay, took a bit of searching and quite a few places I tried where booked, but finally received a reply from one we liked and we now have everything planned, well apart from three free nights we have left until we get over there.
Got through the weekend fine, probably a few points over, but had very little water - but back in routine today. I'm finding I need water now, yesterday afternoon I hadn't any but then found all I wanted was a big glass of water, I was really thirsty. Not planned but I seem to be getting by by having five really good days and having extra in the weekend. Did well at the birthday lunch, piled my plate with a lot of salad, just a little bit of curry, another spoon of a lovely beef dish and just one small bit of garlic bread. No dessert! A couple of small wines. Then when the birthday cake I felt like it would be impolite not to take any as my friend's elderly MIL had made it and everyone was saying what lovely cakes she does, I took a small mouthful but then Peter ended up finishing it for me. No-one noticed.
I'm planning visiting the gym twice this week and aqua on the days in between and see how I cope with that - wish I had more time. Still thinking on the home gym, won't do anything until after our holiday but it's good to have input on other's experiences.
It's hailing again here!! While I don't enjoy winter, I love winter nights with the fire going and the rain pelting down, and we've had plenty of that!
Off to the pool soon - hope it's warm!

Blair's mother is very much the same. She talks about her grandchildren to anyone that will listen yet she didn't come and visit for a year and she lived 2km away! She is bloody wierd. The really strange thing is the kids think she is better than sliced bread.
I'm glad you changed your bookings for that place in Brisbane or it would have spoiled your time there.
What a shame about the other nana, my Mum lives in Oz and has more contact with my boys than my MIL who lives in Gisbborne. If she rings Andrew (or visa versa) I always put the boys on the phone to say hello or she just asks about them????? I don't understand it at all as my Mum constantly rings them and sends them postcards and stuff like that and whenever we say nana they always know it is nana Val in Oz.
We also had some hail on the weekend, cool eh? It started off not too bad this morning but has now turned to custard.
Sad about the boys other grandmother, cos they are missing out just as much as she is. Our wee kids only have us, so that is even sadder. I hope you have a fantastic week and get to the gym etc as planned. See you bright and early on saturday!
I don't know how anyone could be like that about their grandchildren!
Bed bugs - Yuck!!! I don't even want to think about them :-(
I hope the place you found is lovely.
Summer here in Canada and we are getting some whacky weather as well. Tornadoes don't usually hit central Canada - and now they seem to be daily things. Scary to think how much the weather has changed over the past years. So happy to hear that you got out of the whole bed bugs thing - :) Take care.
I'm with you on the five day weekends- wouldn't that be wonderful. Didn't think to say that I could probably have found out about Brisvegas hotels - but sounds like you've got it all under control now.
Oh yes...5 day weekends would be awesome...
and a couple of more hours in each day....
Goodness, how strange about your daughter's MIL. Such gorgeous boys, too. If I were a granny then I'd be a very visible presence - possibly too visible. But alas, no signs of imminent grannyhood yet.
My MIL is a weird one too .... we lived only 4 streets away from her in Blacks Beach .... she had to drive past our house to visit her daughter 40 mins away .... most weekends!!
My mother makes up for it tho .... !!
