Back into it!

I took on board your comments about contacting my 'ex' friend when I heard the news about their daughter. It was hard to do but at least I could let her know that we are thinking of them. I don't think the friendship will ever be rekindled, it's been too long, but that's not what I made the call for. I have thought of following the call up in a couple of weeks just to see how they are and once again to let them know we are there.

To say it was a flying visit to catch up with our son in Nelson is quite funny when I think how we had to fly miles out of our way to get home again. Was good to catch up and also amazing to see where he works. I just couldn't take it all in! (He has just landed a head chef position at a lodge which charges over $2000.00 per night!) We found out the new job means he has a three bedroom apartment attached to the lodge. He will move in a couple of weeks. The lodge is on a farm, 2,000 acres, once through the entrance way we drove for 3 k's up a driveway! No guests on site when we were there so could have a good look about. The ultimate in privacy, also the ultimate in luxury! Has everything, including library, gym, spa for beauty treatments. The accommodation was breathtaking (and unaffordable for us). Really pleased that our trip timed in with the new job and we could get to see it all for ourselves.

After a few days of eating out I've come back feeling like a blown up heffalump! Definitely not weighing in today!!! But what I've decided is to have a really good week, not go anywhere near the scales and then head back to WW next Thursday and weigh in then. Gives me a week to get over the couple of days of eating out! And I will be weighing no matter what next week, I need and also want to get back into it! When we were looking at the lodge David was explaining how they get the guests input into what they cook. They talk to them, ask them what meals they've had lately, what their likes and dislikes are and then work out the menu from that. So we talked about what we have it we could have anything we liked for dinner that night. I choose scallop entree and whitebait fritters. Guess what the restaurant had on the menu that night - Scallops and whitebait - yum!! The next night I had smoked salmon and then scallops (again) love them!

We had a busy weekend before we went away, Sunday I baked a Christmas cake to take down to our son. I was a bit late getting it into the oven, and had to sit up until almost 11.00pm for it to cook. Late because most of Sunday was spent car hunting. It got a little mind boggling, but we got a few narrowed down and then made the decision. So Peter's old car is dead, daughter Rachel's car is in the panel beaters (thanks to her mum). LOL I had to draw the insurance company a diagram of the accident. It was hard to do! I don't think my drawing quite met up with their expectations of a drawing, they had to take it to a supervisor to see if it was alright! OK I'm not an artist. Blogger Rachel said our life was a bit like a sit com! Sometimes I feel like too. For instance I paid our insurance company for our Business package on 9th Oct. They can't find the payment despite the fact our bank account says it went to them. Have spent about 20 minutes on the phone to them, they told me to make it 'easier' in future I should pay by cheque or go to a Post shop, funny I thought Internet banking was meant to be easier. Last phone call they found one payment but not the other?? Stil waiting to hear. Also this weekend is our wedding anniversary, (35 years) I had in the back of my mind maybe we could invite the kids up for a BBQ on the new BBQ we are buying that is meant to arrive this week. Then the friend that is selling the BBQ to us through their business sent me a quick email this morning - this is part of the email!
we contacted ****** re our order Tuesday they came back today with the news it was their truck containing hundreds of mowers & BBQ's destined for Palmy when it rolled on Friday - whole shipment b******.
Sounds like a bit of a disaster for ***** as they have to ship replacements from Aus & that is not a happening overnight thing.

Some how I don't think we will be having a BBQ this weekend!!

We are still smiling:-)

Have been reading your blogs - haven't had much time to comment, but I'm still here!
