On the surface life is ticking along. We "escaped" for the weekend and went over to the beach. The weather was perfect. We had two grandkids with us and they even ventured in the sea - a bit cold for me! Saturday night we went down to the little cafe for a drink. It overlooks the beach and we really enjoyed sitting looking out to sea. Then we decided to look at the menu there rather than go home and cook. I branched out!!!!! It's almost five years since I last had a meal of fish and chips - deep fried that is!! So that's what I ordered and really enjoyed it as well!! It was crumbed fish - not a huge piece and a few chips washed down with a glass of wine. LOL almost felt quite decadent. I went to aqua six times last week - so thought I could justify a bit of a break out! Sunday was another sunny warm day, so we stayed on until mid afternoon before packing up to go home. The kids loved the water and think they are a couple of surfies now! Sunday night we went to our daughters for Thai takeaways, it was her birthday Saturday but they had a Christmas dinner on so that's why we caught up on Sunday instead.
Some 'kid' photos

Fynn 'surfing' in two inches of water!

Devin - another '
surfie' shot - poser!
Casey and Jordyn - LOL Casey looks like he hasn't any hair, the sun is shining on what is left of his hair so he looks almost bald! He gave himself a "haircut" with clippers a couple of weeks ago - not a lot left!

34 years!!
That's how old our daughter Rachel is. I don't feel old enough to have a daughter that age! Made me think back to 34 years ago when she was born. Apart from morning sickness (at night?) I had a good pregnancy until the last couple of months. Then had quite massive swelling of feet and hands. Could not wear any shoes at all! I lived in jandals. Our doctor was a family one and elderly (in his 80's) I kept showing him the swelling and he told me to keep walking. So I did, walking everday. (Found out later I should have been resting - not walking!) The baby was due on the 5th November, I thought she was hanging out and going to be born on our wedding anniversary on the 18th. She was in no hurry. LOL - she is still like that - very cruisy! So a few days later I went again to the doctors. He told me to go to the hospital and they would check I had my dates right as I was almost 3 weeks overdue. So of to the hospital, they took one look at me and the swelling and ordered me into bed! Bed rest now until this baby was ready to be born. I had all my bags packed at home - except for underwear! I wasn't even allowed out of bed to phone Peter to throw the underwear in my case. The hospital had to phone him at work. Then they decided to induce me. Sounds like the dark ages and they didn't tell you much even though I was full of questions, I had toxaemia. The baby needed to be born. I went into labour, full on labour, also spent quite a bit of the time vomiting. After about twelve hours they told Peter to go home and get some sleep. To be honest I couldn't care where he was as I thought I was going to die! Then during the routine monitoring they found the baby's heart beat was really racing. The nurse told me she was calling in a specialist. Peter had just got home and into bed when they phoned him to come back. It was scary, I was sort of out of it but knew there was something really wrong. Then I was raced to theatre for an emergency C section. They told us later we could have lost the baby unless they did the C section. The next I remember was been gently woken up to be told I had a little girl. She was absolutely beautiful. C section babies quite often are. Peter later on went to meet his brothers for a celebration drink and told them all proudly that this baby would one day be Miss World!! Rachel is barely five foot so we tell her now she didn't quite have the height! Rachel wanted to know why we called her Rachel. We had loads of other names picked out, including Ainslie, Rebbecca and even tried Nicola for a couple of days, then we just came up with Rachel. It just seemed to be her.
Back to work. I'm planning two aqua sessions again tonight, one after the other. As you can tell, I'm loving the pool in this weather:-)

Ah, those were the days to have a baby huh? hehe... I had a specialist but still I was allowed to go three weeks overdue with Jo!! With my first, David, I was induced at 19 days over - doesn't happen now. 34 - seems such a long time ago. My eldest is nearly 32. Where do the years go?
Love a good birth story I do... think I can give you a few too somehow! Glad you had a neat weekend at the beach, it looks so beautiful there. I am hanging out to get to the beach too!
Well you settled on a beautiful name for Rachel......snigger.
Funnily enough my Mum and Dad also had the name Rebecca picked out for me but said once i was born I didn't suit it.

I LOVE the name Ainslie for a girl, I've got it up my sleeve incase there is ever another baby girl at my house.

Your beach looks idyllic. It must be a special place for you all.
I too had toxaemia for both my pregnancies but didnt go through anywhere near the dramas that you did.
I envied you the fish and chips too!
