Monday

The past fews days have been a mixture of good and not so good. I'm talking about food or exercise - just life in general.

Today Jordyn goes in (hopefully) for his last op on the removal of his birthmark. I said hopefully as he has a cold and ear infection so sort of wondering if it will happen. Rachel phoned the hospital and they said to still take him so will wait and see.

Devin failed another eye test so looks as if he going to need glasses. Nothing major but just something he will have to get used to.

The firm we do the bulk of our work for never received their payment - so consequently we didn't either! Fingers crossed for early this week.

With all these ups and downs going on I also needed a new prescription for my blood pressure medication. This time they wanted to check the BP and stupid but I went into a bit of a spin and just knew it was going to be high - and it was! 160/80, I wasn't happy so sat for a while and they took it again - it was the same, stubborn person I am I asked for a third shot thinking it would be down but no such luck, so now have to see the doctor tomorrow. Frustrating as I'm doing everything possible to improve it and it's not happening! I feel fine and I'm sure by worrying about it reading high I am in fact putting it up and making that happen.

To top it off on Friday our internet connection went down. Sometimes because of the area we are in we can have problems then it comes right again. We need it for work, but rather than spend hours on the phone trying to sort we got the work faxed through and hoped it would come back on. We locked up the office, house and headed of to the beach for the weekend. Trying to put all thoughts of Jordyn's op, Devin's glasses, late payments, high blood pressure, no internet connection to the side and enjoy our weekend. We did!

Castlepoint has an annual race meeting on the beach. Only problem for the past five years there hasn't been enough sand on the beach for the horses. Now they have contstructed a sea wall the sand has returned so the race meeting was on this year. Brilliant weather, great fun atmosphere. We wandered down to the beach with our chilly bin and sat there soaking in the atmosphere. Have never seen the place so crowded - people everywhere. We had Peter's family staying with us as well as Devin our oldest grandson. Rather than chosing horses to bet on, you draw a letter and that is matched to a horse. Peter's brothers are into racing - in fact one of them won the cup at these races about 10 years ago. They also like gambling - whereas we would only have a fun go at events like this. One of Peter's brothers got Devin a ticket, he won $6.50 and was hooked. I felt bad but he didn't honestly realise the gambling aspect as thought he just won a prize, then he won another lot and his words were I'm going to be richest man alive! In between the races they had beach races for the kids. We had a BBQ that night, woke to another beautiful day, had a couple of walks. Back home and still no internet! So I spent quite as bit of time on the phone but they couldn't sort it out. Then this morning I thought of the D-Link box that links our computers, the modem goes through that then into the computer, I bypassed the little box and we were away. Just had an email and we are getting paid tonight. Jorydn is on his way to Wellington - now I just need to sort out my blood pressure!

LOL - we got home dropped Devin of, visited Jordyn then sat down to dinner - the phone went. It was Devin - he said Hi Grandad do you have my race book? I hope he doesn't end up like his grandad's brothers......

I hope all goes well with grandson's operation. Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend too! Hope they can sort out your blood pressure, what a pain.

Everything has a way of sorting itself out. Us silly humans just seem to worry in the meantime ;)

Thanks for the comment on my blog, nice to be back among friends again :)

Sorry to hear of all the problems you have been having the last couple of days.

How wonderful that it will be Jordyn's last op for his birthmark!

Devin will look adorable with glasses on don't you think?

We watched the Castlepoint horse racing on the news and it looked like heaps of fun.

Now that everything has come together your blood pressure is probably fine. It's just such a pain that you can be feeling fine but your BP can be way up and you don't even know it. It'll be great for Jordyn to have all the ops. with and Devin will still be an absolutely cutie with glasses.
Have a good week - and check out my post - you 'blogged' me into it.!

I used to go to the Castlepoint races every year when my friend was teaching there - of course that was over 20 years ago!
