Magical weekend
The weekend was one of those magical ones where Autumn and Winter seem far away. We headed to the beach Friday afternoon. For a change we seemed very organised, probably because we knew our friends were arriving here at 4.30pm to head away. I had everything packed before I headed to the gym and aqua at lunchtime. Most unlike me! Normally we are throwing things in the car right up until the last minute. Must try the packing in the morning again, a lot less stressful. We arrived at the beach house before 7.00 which is early for us. We lit the fire, opened some wine and I threw together a salad while my friend carved up a chicken. Not too late to bed as the men had the alarm set for 6.00am to head out fishing on one of the charter boats. They made sure not only they woke up in the morning but us two women as well! They seemed extra noisy, not just one alarm going off but a couple (repeatedly). Then my cell phone alarm went (which was the back up one in case the others didn't work!) I could hear our friend laughing away as my cell phone alarm is a Robbie Williams tune! I had left it on the fridge and they couldn't find it to turn it of. We heard thumping up and down the hall, garage door opening, closing, opening again? Then silence, half asleep I turned over in bed, opened a book and crashed! Next thing it was 9.00am! The sea was like a mirror, very calm so a perfect day for the fishing trip (or so we thought). We had breakfast and then decided on a walk, my friend is one of those super fit people (both her and her husband love tramping and both appear years younger than they are) Despite my sore knee (still after my incident of stopping the car hitting the dog) I managed not to slow her down too much, we walked along the ridge looking out to sea, down through the pine trees, along the beach and stopped at the cafe for a cup of coffee before heading back. On the way back to the beach house we have a choice - either a steep hill or the short cut which is up 42 steep steps, doesn't sound like much but they really are steep then there is a couple of steep drive ways to walk up. My friend ran up the steps! Mad! I couldn't help myself and called her a bitch! We laughed as we puffed and panted up the hill. She said to me that I couldn't have done this a few years ago which made me feel a lot better because even though I was puffing away at least I could do it! Around 3.00 Peter phoned to say they were down on the beach as the boat had come in, so we headed down the hill to see how the fishing trip went. Piles of fish!! Peter looked a little greenish and said he had been a bit sea sick. Even though the sea looked calm the swells were quite big ones. He was ok though and they enjoyed the trip. So we nice fresh fish for dinner. Nothing better. The next day we had brunch then tidied and packed up. Before we left for home the men went out diving for paua, we sat on the beach with our books. Weird as within minutes the calm weather just changed, the sea got quite rough, the wind got up and we were reminded that winter is on it's way. Both of the men caught their quota of paua and we headed home, with a chilly bin full of fish:-) LOL our English son in law when told some of the fish caught was shark shook his head and said he couldn't eat that. So we have labelled it lemon fish and will take him down some today and tell him later what he has eaten!
Back to work, hoping to get to the gym and aqua, but also today may end up having Devin here. He is of to hospital for an eye test and they put drops in which can back them super sensitive to light so he may not be feeling like going back to school. Rachel our daughter felt sorry for Toby our dog being alone after Amber has gone and took him down to her house for part of the weekend. He loved it there! Only problem was he loves fetching and kept 'fetching' the boys toy balls and punctured a couple of them.
Summary of last week:
3 gym sessions
5 aqua
a walk in the weekend. Feeling good about what I achieved. Well more than good! Patting myself on the back - hoping for more of the same this week.
Tracking over the weekend got put aside but we ate well, apart from some pita crisps and pesto and wine I was fine. Water - not so good, just out of routine and not drinking it over the weekend but it's another day today.
Better go and get this work done!
